Communities Join CleanPower Partnership
Many New Jersey communities have committed to clean energy solutions in response to global climate change and the need for clean, reliable energy sources. Various communities across the state have signed on as CleanPower Community Partners - a new program which helps communities set clean energy goals and educate their constituents about the CleanPower Choice Program(SM) and other renewable energy and energy efficient programs and incentives. The CleanPower Community Partners include: Princeton, the Borough of Belmar, Atlantic County Utilities Authority, Middlesex County, the Township of Montclair, Borough of Lindenwold, Summit City and Environmental Commission, Maplewood Environmental Commission, Hudson County, and Cape May City. Together, these Partners have set a goal to enroll more than 9,000 residents in the CleanPower Choice Program, which would reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by over 90.6 million pounds - the equivalent of removing over 7,900 cars or over 5,600 SUVs from the road for a year, or planting more than 12,000 acres of trees (using the EPA's Power Profiler.) To read more about events in their communities this spring and to see how these Community Partners are working to promote a cleaner New Jersey, please visit www.NJCleanPower.com.
